Yukiko (Matsuda) Kawabata established Beagle House NY, Inc. in 2006 after an extensive career in merchandising and wholesale distribution. Her company focuses on trendy and high-quality fashion products sourced from Japan her home.
Her early life as a Rotary Youth Exchange Student formed her love of art and fashion After returning to Japan from her year-long stay in New Castle, PA, she decided to return to the states and attend the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Los Angeles, California. She later attended California State University, Los Angeles and majored in art where she graduated with a BA in Art and Fashion Merchandising.
Yukiko takes inspiration from the character Snoopy in the comic strip Peanuts, for which her company is named. Her time spent in Western Pennsylvania early on exploring Amish Country and former small steel towns have nurtured much of her passion for art and fashion. Other ideas for her collections are found back in her country through the vintage patterns, landscapes, architecture, foliage, and from centuries old traditions to modern design.
